Situation and Goals

Lower Cape Fear LifeCare (LCFL) serves patients and families across southeastern North Carolina with compassionate, mission-driven hospice and palliative care. As demand for end-of-life and advanced illness care continued to grow, LCFL identified the need to expand and enhance its in-patient hospice care centers while also strengthening programs such as memory care and other supportive services.

To support this vision, LCFL launched the Sharing the Journey Campaign, a comprehensive fundraising effort with a goal of $12 million to ensure continued excellence, access, and sustainability of care for the community.

Strategy

  • Conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to assess readiness, philanthropic capacity, and campaign priorities.

  • Engage organizational leadership and key stakeholders to align vision, goals, and donor strategy.

  • Develop a clear campaign framework and case for support to guide cultivation and solicitation efforts.

  • Provide strategic counsel and hands-on support during the first year of the campaign to build early momentum and long-term success.

Results

  • Successfully launched the Sharing the Journey Campaign with a goal of $12 million.

  • Generated strong early momentum, raising $3 million in the first year of the campaign.

  • Surpassed the original campaign goal, raising more than $15 million in total support.

  • Strengthened Lower Cape Fear LifeCare’s ability to expand in-patient hospice care and sustain mission-critical programs for the future.
