$18 Million to Expand and Enhance Pediatric Services

Situation & Goals

The only children’s hospital between Atlanta and Nashville was becoming outdated, presenting challenges in accommodating over 1 million young patients in a rapidly growing region. Children’s Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga needed to expand and enhance pediatric services through multiple specialties. The plan was a two-phased expansion with a $35 million Phase 1 goal.

Strategy

• Conduct feasibility study to set financial goal, timelines, and priorities

• Launch Phase 1 to build Children’s Hospital Outpatient Center for clinical services and medical specialties

• Recruit, orient, and support an active fundraising group of regional volunteers

• Identify and help solicit local signature gift prospects

• Manage the “believe” campaign while also growing overall philanthropic culture

• Exceeded $18 Million raised in the first year

• Positioned the Erlanger Health System Foundation for continued financial growth and success
